While kitesurfing has been banned in several places due to the danger in poses at beaches due to safety and liability concerns, it still remains to be a popular sport. If you’re looking for a travel destination and great waves you can kitesurf at Costa Rica.

Finding the right spot

Kitesurfing can be dangerous due to weather conditions. Excessive beach traffic and poorly organized practices of kiteboarding also leads to its restrictions. But some riders just refuse to listen to well intended advice and get into accidents. Fortunately other kitesurfers are able to reverse these bans by communicating with the local authorities. This opens a lot of places in the country to ride with the wind and kitesurf.

The best spots to learn and go kitesurfing are areas not jus the beaches with renowned breaks but also consistent weather. The area must have strong winds but not too much that it carry the rider away. Costa Rica has been a popular tourists and water sport enthusiast destination. The coastline has many beaches with sunny and dry weather.

This weather is good for absolute beginners who are just getting to know the sport and veterans who want to have a good kitesurfing session. Apart from kitesurfing there are also activities that tourists can do such as snorkeling.

In Playa Papaturro, there are beautiful beaches that are not well known to the public making them perfect for kitesurfing. They offer courses and training in kitesurfing by certified instructors. These courses range from absolute beginners to advanced lessons. They can teach a maximum of 4 people for beginners. You can also opt for private course if you want to have a one on one lesson with an instructor.

They will provide with the necessary equipment during lessons. If you already have an experience you can also rent gear from stores in the area. The duration of your course will depend on your level.

The beginner’s course lasts about 2 to 3 days, others 3 to 4. However this will depend on weather conditions. Certified instructors will teach students the basics including flight techniques and basic steering. The first part of the course is the land lesson where the instructor lectures the students about the basics.

The second one covers body techniques, wherein the instructors will discuss equipments and students will be taught how to land and launch a kite including bodydragging. The last one covers water start which includes sailing and jumping techniques.

Intermediate and advanced courses last for hours, depending on your skills. Interested students can also apply for independent courses and hire private instructors. Prices vary and you may want to contact them first. Students are required to bring in their wetsuits (during January or February), water shoes and sunglasses with bungee. Other necessary equipment for the lesson will be provided.

Whether you’re a beginner or a veteran Costa Rica is a great place to visit. The beaches are little known which means you don’t have to worry about boats and tourist. The weather is also suitable for kitesurfing. If you want to try the sport on your own or with your friends they have a good spot for you.

Greece is located in Europe, surrounded by the Aegean, Ionian, and Mediterranean Seas. It is a peninsula country. Windsurfing in Greece is a very popular sport. It became so because of Nikos Kaklamanakis during the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996.This mountainous country, with plenty of Islands offers ideal wind conditions in which to enjoy windsurfing.

The PBA, which is also known as the world association for professional windsurfers, has met every year since 1993. The World Championship windsurfing competitions have been held in the islands of Greece, and especially on the lovely Golden Beach. As one of the prominent mecques of windsurfing in Greece, Golden Beach graces the island of Paros, which is in the Cyclades, with amazing windsurfing opportunities.

The best area to practice windsurfing is the regions of the Aegean Sea which are blew by a summer wind coming from the North. These winds are called the Meltemi winds. These winds blow from May to September and their wind force is strongest during July and August. The fierce intensity of these winds will vary depending upon the region. Such winds are found in islands Naxos and Paros, found in the Cycladic Islands. Because of these helpful wind conditions, thousands of windsurfers flock here every summer.

There are other popular watersports that people enjoy in Greece. There is one called Kiteboarding. Kiteboarding is a blend of elements of windsurfing, surfing and what is known as wakeboarding. This is a rather new sport that first became really popular back in the 90′s, and is also called kitesurfing. Depending on the size of the kite, you can kiteboard at different wind strengths. The bigger your kite is, the lighter force of the wind you can enter in and this can go the opposite way. Kiteboarding is actually easier to earn than windsurfing or just plain surfing. Surprisingly to the students, they are able to get up on their boards after only two lessons form a certified instructor.

Another watersport enjoyed in Greece is what is known as wakeboarding. It is very like water skiing, the most familiar watersport, in which the wakeboarder is pulled behind a boat at speeds of up to 24 mph. main difference between plain waterskiing and wakeboarding is that the boarder uses a single board, resembling a snowboard instead of skis, with bindings. This is fast becoming very popular sport all over, especially in Greece.

For surfers who would like to join a club, there are a variety of windsurfing clubs in Greece. One popular example is the Paros Kite Boarding Center. This Club is a shoreline with a sandy bottom, shallow water and perfect wind conditions. This beach is good for levels beginner through advanced kiteboarding and windsurfing. The Paros Kite Boarding Center has certified, expert windsurfing instructors that can start out the beginner and even teach novice surfers new tricks, all at the learner’s own pace.

Something to consider when particpating in any watersports while vacationing in Greece is to think about the weather. The weather in Greece is has mild winters, warm summers, and is cooled by a variety of seasonal winds.

Their summers are delightfully sunny and is met with very little rainfall! These weather conditions easily lend themselves to a very enjoyable summer holiday in Greece.

Greece is an amazing country with lots to offer the tourist. The most popular attractions of the country is the many picturesque beaches dotting its shores. With 13,676 km of coastlines, one will definitely find the beaches of his dreams

It would not be difficult for a visitor to find the ideal beach to visit and participate in their favorite watersport when there is up to 13,676 KM of scenic shorelines. The beaches themselves offer a lovely picture for people to sit quietly and gaze upon. there are beaches that are covered in sand so white you might be blinded if the sun hit just right, with crystal-clear, turquoise waters. You might also see beaches hugged by huge cliffs or fragrant pine forests, or even palm trees.

First impressions of the Luke Young Custom directional kiteboard.

Luke shaped the directional kiteboard with design influences taken from the Cyborg surfboard. A narrow tail plan shape and quad fin design hold the board in the water at high speed, and while wave surfing. The kiteboard has a low rocker throughout, with a rolled vee through the nose to break up surface chop. The centre section is shaped single concave, running back to double concave through the fins and out the tail, increasing drive and control. Straps are totally optional, and although bolting points are built into the board the straps themselves are not included.

I first went out on the board in September last year, at Daymer Bay in Cornwall riding strapped. It was an excellent first session on a directional board – when riding the waves the stance was ideal, but for normal cruising it was a bit painful.

My second kitesurfing trip with the Luke Young board took me to Hill Head in Hampshire. Having lent a friend my usual twin-tip kiteboard, I took the 5’4″ surfboard out in relatively good wind – Once again I decided to use the footstraps, it was all great fun until the front strap bolt came out and I had no choice but to kitesurf without it. The rest of the session was not so good, my back foot was stuck in the tail strap while my front foot was bouncing all over the place in the heavy chop. After that session I decided to take the straps off and give strapless riding ago!

With the board floating in front of me and the kite at twelve, I put my heels on the board and sent the kite down for a board start. Directional kiteboards are so buoyant that the start is much easier than expected. Having gotten up and riding I pointed the board downwind and leant back, adjusting my feet to a wider stance stopped my front leg popping into the air and I found myself most comfortable as I moved my back foot towards the centre of the board. As I was kitesurfing, I felt that the board was a part of me, but not attached, because of this I couldn’t help but feel like a surfer. Positioning the kite deep in the wind and charging at what swell we have, I unleashed a variety of cutbacks, floaters and aerials with grabs. I rode back to the beach happy!

Riding strapless has given me a completely different outlook when kitesurfing, I am no longer worried about lending my twin tip North kiteboard to friends as I’ve found the directional board suits the local conditions far better.
